Carole Gaylard Art

Welcome to my website.

I'm Carole and I have been painting for as long as I can remember.

Whilst at art College and University I experimented with many art forms but always returned to painting. My first paintings were in oil and later I moved to acrylic paints, which is now my main medium.

I came to Wales to study teaching, becoming a primary school teacher here for many years, always painting and exhibiting in my spare time.

I then began to suffer with vestibular neuritis, resulting in constant vertigo, this meant giving up teaching as well as the detailed painting I had become known for. It was a difficult time, everything I loved to do was taken away.

It was at this low point that I discovered acrylic pour painting. It was wonderful to be able to create again. I found it strange to be so completely abstract and free with my work. My studio went from a pristine workspace to a total mess with paint splatters everywhere.

Gradually, over several years the vertigo has lessened and I am able to return to the detailed work of previous times, however acrylic pour is not something I just want to give up. In my most recent works I have been able to combine both styles to create embellished pours, this style is evolving with each painting created.

I can still be found searching in the bottom of a hedgerow, a secluded woodland, or on a beach looking for inspiration as a love of nature has always been my in my pieces.

I have exhibited with several art societies around the country including The Wildlife Arts Society International (TWASI) and Diverse Manners as well as both the Brixham and Torbay art societies. My work has also been shown in galleries including the prestigious Celtic Manor Resort, The Oriel Caerleon Gallery and Barnabas Arts House.
